I totally didn't get the whole www.pinterest.com thing until I really got into it. I got an invite, I started my own page, I "pinned" things left, right and centre. The crazy part came though when I didn't just pin something, I actually got off my butt, found what I needed and MADE IT! I have found some amazing things that really work and can be made so simply and with things that I have just lying around my house. Here, I'll show you...(btw, I've made all the pictures links)
I saw this sugar scrub and felt so inspired. I love scrubs but I'm cheap and hate buying stuff like that. Also, most of them feel really rough and I don't know why, but my skin doesn't handle that well. Anyway, I saw this pin and figured, I could make that, so I mixed sugar, coconut oil and lime juice and got yummy coconut lime sugar scrub! I use it in the shower, I use it when I'm baking and need to get all the bits of dough off or I use it just to exfoliate and "lotion" my hands all in one step. Love it!
A couple of months ago Mark went grocery shopping and came back with spring roll wrappers. I had no idea what to do with them but as soon as I saw this recipe I knew I had struck gold!!! The flavours were perfect, the texture was perfect and we dipped them in Greek yogurt and salsa and had a salad on the side, super healthy yummy meal. These would be an amazing appetizer too!
When we moved to our current house I discovered that I only have 2 soap dispensers and 3 bathrooms. I love my soap dispensers so I went to Walmart to buy another and discovered that they no longer come in white :( I hate spending lots of money on a disposable dispenser (because I don't want the cheap ones, they don't look nice!) and I couldn't find another reusable one that I liked. Then I saw this. Hmmm, my Mother-in-law buys those, I thought. Sure enough, next time we were there she has a foam soap that she was just finishing so I snagged it, brought it home, cleaned it out and made my own foam soap from some Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint body wash that I had and water. It seriously works and it smells just like it I'd bought it that way. Score!
And the most awesome of all!
Salad in a jar.
I know, it sounds silly, how could salad stay good in a jar?
It just does people.
DO IT! :)
I didn't use her dressing, I'm not a big dressing girl so I just put a tablespoon of Newman's Own oil and vinegar dressing in there, then onion, mushrooms, grape tomatos and spinach (I totally forgot the quinoa!). I made 5 jars and put them in my downstairs fridge. I skipped 2 lunches of this so it ended up being 7 days before I opened the last jar and honestly, I kid you not, it was as fresh as the first day I put it together! My only theory is that the mushroom absorb any extra moisture in the jar so the spinach keeps so long. SOOOO yummy and healthy and easy to take with you.
Ok, so I have to know, what have you made that you saw on Pinterest??

I've made a few recipes, but I did make that hand scrub, and it's wonderful!
When it comes to pinterest I guess I'm a follower and just want to make what you make! You inspire me! Love, Mom
I made the "cloud dough" for Mika, but it was a fail. It was really simple though, just baby oil and flour. Cool feeling, kind of like fine sand.
I also tried the butternut squash penne, with a few substitutions based on what I had on hand, and it was delish!
I looked at that salad a few times, and now I'll have to try it!
Very fun!
BTW - where do you buy coconut oil?
